The Board Books of Yusuke Yonezu

Yusuke Yonezu is a Tokyo-born artist and illustrator whose board books have sold millions of copies around the world. I only discovered his titles fairly recently, and he’s quickly become a staple of my baby story times. Yonezu’s board books are absolutely perfect for the very youngest of readers, with their bold, black lines, simple shapes, minimal text, cut outs and flaps to lift and explore. Here are just a few of my favourite Yusuke Yonezu titles!

Yum Yum!

This adorable little book features cut out sections that allow children to “feed” the different animals in the book. So much fun!

Guess What? – Fruit

Lift the flaps to transform fruit into all sorts of unusual things! Small children ADORE flaps, and they’re great for building motor skills.

Triangles

Explore shapes with this fun guessing-game board book.

Rainbow Chameleon

This colour book follows an adorable little chameleon on his search for love.

Have you read any Yusuke Yonezu titles? Do you have any favourites? If you haven’t checked out this very talented illustrator, definitely add him to your TBR!
